Founded in 1972 by Doria Avila in McAllen, Rio Grande Valley Ballet is a registered Non-Profit 501(c) Arts Corporation dedicated to promoting the enjoyment and art of dance in all its forms in the Rio Grande Valley and all across the State of Texas. Deborah Case serves as Artistic Director of the ballet company.

Our Nutcracker performances are The Valley's longest-running show, celebrating our 35th Anniversary year in 2007. While our public Nutcracker events are widely enjoyed by local residents and our beloved Winter Texan audiences, the Ballet also welcomes over 5000 local school children in reduced-fee Student Matinees each year. Along with The Nutcracker, Rio Grande Valley Ballet has presented annual Festival of Dance shows to our patrons, bringing in famous artists from the Kirov Ballet Company of St. Petersburg, Russia and dancers from the highly respected Joffrey Ballet of Chicago.
Rio Grande Valley Ballet has welcomed recognition by the Texas Commission on the Arts as part of the commission's Touring Roster, and has presented both The Nutcracker and folklorico shows across the state.
Rio Grande Valley Ballet works with other arts groups throughout The Valley to showcase the art of dance. We welcome community involvement and support.
